The Treatment
What is RF Microneedling and how does it work?
Microneedling is a popular skin rejuvenation treatment that involves creating micro-injuries in the skin to encourage the body’s natural healing process to replenish the skin. Although micro-injuries may sound painful or dangerous, these breaks in the skin are so small that they are barely felt.
Ultrafine needles penetrate the skin at different depths and release radiofrequency energy to heat the skin in a controlled manner, stimulating a wound-healing response that produces Collagen and Elastin. Collagen and Elastin are the main components in the skin that keep it plump, youthful and radiant; unfortunately, our levels deplete significantly as we age.
Radiofrequency (RF) induces thermal trauma to stimulate neocollagenesis in deep layers of the skin, creating stronger, firmer skin to help with concerns such as wrinkles and laxity.
Combining Radiofrequency and Microneedling (RFM) together provides a dual effect on the tissue for a whole host of textural and ageing concerns such as acne scars, skin laxity, stretch marks, open pores, and wrinkles. Overall, your skin will gradually smooth out, with an improvement in tightness and quality. The results will be wholly natural, as the treatment stimulates the production of elastin and collagen.
This minimally invasive procedure encourages fresher and healthier skin growth to treat stress marks, wrinkles, hyperhidrosis and acne scars. You’ll leave our Clinic looking radiant and revitalised, with longer-lasting results than most anti-wrinkle injections.
What technology is used for RF Microneedling?
At our clinic in Essex, we use the Focus Dual for all of our RF Microneedling treatments.
The Focus Dual uses unique vacuum suction technology to stabilise the microneedles for safer and more precise treatments, especially useful around the delicate eye area. Focus Dual boasts non-insulated and superfine microneedles. Non-insulated microneedles are active along the entire length and cause high volumetric heating, offering enhanced results, reduced infection, faster healing, and safer treatments.
Treatments with non-insulated needles carry the advantages of shorter procedure time, less trauma, and less downtime.
Does RF Microneedling hurt?
You’ll be pleased to know that the Focus Dual uses superfine microneedles (only 0.16mm in diameter) due to technological advancements, creating a safer treatment with less bleeding and discomfort versus other devices.
This means there is little to no pain involved in our RF Microneedling treatment, however, the use of microneedles may incur a slight discomfort similar to the sensation of a pinprick. Most patients describe it as tolerable, and slight discomfort settles down quickly.
