Acne Treatment FAQ

The Active Acne treatment works by clearing up excessive production of sebum that blocks pores, while also tackling the bacteria on the skin that causes inflammation and infected spots common in acne sufferers. By targeting these areas with IPL technology and gentle heating, we can stimulate the skin’s natural healing process in a safe and effective manner.

Upon consultation a treatment procedure will be tailored specifically to you. The process includes a light applicator that is placed onto the skin, and a set of different pulsed light wavelengths is released. The handpiece is moved around the area, and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. Protective eyewear will be provided during the treatment.

Treatment can be mildly uncomfortable, but no anaesthesia is required. Most people describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, not unlike a quick pin prick and warm feeling.

Treatment times can vary but are typically between 20-45 minutes.

ClearSkin treatment causes minimal damage to the top layer of the skin. After each treatment, patients may feel like they have a mild sunburn or a heat sensation in the area that was treated. This feeling typically lasts around 4-6 hours.

After the treatment, you should expect reduced acne scars and generally smoother skin as a result of stimulated skin. Redness and a slight warming sensation are quite normal after treatment, as well as tight feeling skin.

All acne is different, and therefore you may require multiple sessions to fully clear up the condition.
